". . . the volume and indeed the entire series is invaluable as a guide to lesser-known documentaries and international films. This is an essential series for all serious film public and academic collections." —Anthony J. Adam, American Reference Books Annual
An invaluable reference and resource for scholars and film devotees alike, Frame by Frame III documents the contributions of Africans and African Americans in all aspects of the cinematic arts. Spanning a decade, from 1994 to 2004, the volume includes narrative descriptions and plot summaries, listings of black cast members, directors, executive producers, film composers, performers, producers, screenwriters, and Academy Award winners and nominees. The introduction, "The Shifting Landscape of Black Cinema," provides a scholarly assessment of the changing landscape in black world cinema, its growth, impact, and challenges.

Audrey Thomas McCluskey is Associate Professor of Afro-American Studies and Director of the Black Film Center/Archive at Indiana University. She is editor of Imaging Blackness: Race and Racial Representation in Film Poster Art (IUP, 2006) and co-editor (with Elaine M. Smith) of Mary McLeod Bethune: Building a Better World (IUP, 2001).
