African Epic

The African Epic Series publishes full-length epics and anthologies of oral performance from the rich traditions in all parts of Africa. The series showcases African epic texts for a variety of readers, from students and scholars to those interested in authentic, linear translations of the world's great epics. Scholarly editions include an English translation, the original language transcription, and extensive commentary on the origins of the epic and its performance. Shorter editions for general readers are also included in the series.
