This book series is devoted to the study of black filmmaking in the global diaspora. Of particular focus in the series are the filmmaking careers of black directors, as well as seminal and distinctive films that engage with black life and are of enduring historical, cultural, political, and aesthetic importance. The series constitutes a written archive dedicated to black diasporic cinema, helping to promote, publicize, and understand its traditions, evolution, and global development. It offers film scholars, cineastes, teachers, and students the opportunity to engage with in-depth and critically rigorous scholarship about the black presence in, and contribution to, world cinema. The series will consider proposals for books including monographs, collections, and edited volumes comprised of critical essays, interviews, scripts, press kits, and production/post-production materials.
