Would you like to gain professional experience while working on a project that has a positive, lasting impact? Are you interested in learning about the various aspects of publishing while working toward a tangible goal? Build your resume and skills while working on this important project with a project management internship at Indiana University Press!
This internship will specifically focus on working on the Open Indiana project, an open-access project which seeks to digitize and make freely available over 150 works of significant scholarship published by IU Press that had not previously been available or affordable. The project will also involve researching the history of the press by looking closely at these works and using them to examine the evolution of modern scholarship and university press publishing.
The project management intern will work directly with the project manager to guide books through digitization and preparation for release to the public as well as assist with researching the history of the press. This opportunity will allow you to gain professional real-world experience in problem-solving and project management as well as receive training and increase your skills in areas such as project outlining and scheduling, organizing and analyzing data, eBook formatting and design, marketing planning, and otherwise juggling the various aspects of a large-scale project.
At the end of your internship, you will have a wide range of experience working with a variety of facets of project management in general and scholarly publishing in particular. You will also leave having made a significant impact on a project that will be of particular importance to both the scholarly publishing world and the general public to whom these works are to become readily available.
